What is a public good?
It is something that everyone can use: a school, a road, a fountain, a bench, a hospital… It does not belong to us individually, but we all benefit from it.
Why is it important?
If we break or dirty a public good, it bothers everyone. Protecting these things shows that we are responsible and that we care about others.
Key points to remember:
- Public goods are for everyone
- Damaging them means depriving others of a useful service
- Everyone can help keep them clean and in good condition
- Being a good citizen means respecting what belongs to everyone.
