What should you expect at a health facility/cholera treatment centre? 👩🏽‍⚕️

When a patient arrives at a health facility, a health worker will check if they have cholera. This may include a stool (poo) test.
A small stool sample is collected, either from a container or directly using a swab. Using a swab might be uncomfortable but not painful.
The sample is tested in a lab or at the facility. Results can take from less than an hour to a few days.
In cholera treatment centers, health workers keep patients hydrated with oral rehydration salts. Severely ill patients may get antibiotics. Children might receive zinc tablets.
